Trashbox was built with privacy at its core. This policy explains what we do (and don't do) with information when you use our disposable email service at trashbox.email. We aim to be fully compliant with applicable privacy regulations, including GDPR and CCPA.
The short version: we don't collect personal data, we don't track you, and we don't sell anything about you to anyone.
Trashbox generates a temporary, disposable email address for you instantly — no account, no sign-up, no password required. You can use this address to receive emails from any sender. The inbox and all its contents are automatically wiped after 2 hours.
The service is receive-only. You cannot send emails through Trashbox.
We collect as little as possible — essentially nothing that identifies you:
We use PostHog for product analytics in cookieless mode. This means no tracking cookies are placed on your device for analytics purposes. PostHog receives anonymized, aggregate usage data (such as page views and feature interactions) that cannot be linked back to you individually.
Third-party advertising partners (such as PropellerAds or Adsterra) may use their own cookies or similar tracking technologies to serve and measure ads. These are governed by the respective ad network's privacy policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your browser settings or tools like the NAI opt-out page.
We do not sell, rent, or trade any information about you. Period.
We may share aggregated, non-identifiable analytics data with trusted service providers who help us operate the platform (infrastructure, analytics). These partners are bound by confidentiality obligations and are not permitted to use the data for their own purposes.
Trashbox displays ads served by third-party ad networks. We also rely on PostHog for cookieless analytics. These third parties operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review:
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites or services linked from within emails you receive.
All emails and any associated attachments delivered to a Trashbox inbox are automatically and permanently deleted after 2 hours. No backup copies are kept. Because we do not collect personal data, there is nothing else to retain or delete on your behalf.
Because we do not collect or store personal data tied to you, most data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure) are satisfied by default — there is simply no personal data to act upon.
If you believe we hold any information about you, or if you have a privacy-related concern, please contact us at [email protected] and we will respond promptly.
Residents of California (CCPA) have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. As noted above, we collect no personal information and sell none.
By using Trashbox, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of the service.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Trashbox after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
